Mental health for rent part 4

From a workbook I have called, “Getting Out of Your Head and Into Your Life.” Remember to always seek local professional advice. Ask them about this and how it will help you.

Experimental Avoidance- process of trying to avoid experiences, thoughts, memories and much more. As mentioned in the book, it is like riding a mind-train. They also refer to it as a tug-of-war. The more we pull the more resistance you can get. In other words, it doesn’t work. It may seem like it in the short term that is why it is important to get professional help.

Sometimes I can control my thoughts when sewing, crafts or other things that require your focus. In the workbook we filled in answers to question. One was about the messages the media tells us through their advertising. I put down that, skinny models promoting products made you feel you could look like them when you eat and do what they do.

Question on how you feel about being recognized and how you felt. At times it didn’t bother me however, there have been times when doing something as unto my faith and for God, those times it felt uncomfortable. I want Gods rewards not mans.

It can be easy to try and do self-avoidance but, at your own expense. You’re setting yourself up for reactions that reinforce things that bother you. You’re hindering yourself and your mental health growth. With professional help you can learn to have a better response-ability. You’ll learn alternatives. Before you can move on, you need to get a better handle on those things bothering you.

In the workbook you’ll get into willingness and acceptance and what that means relating to mental health. When it comes to thoughts, you’ll focus on the impact of thoughts, looking at thoughts rather than from them. other exercise to learn about are mindfulness, what it is and isn’t. What are values and how they help.
