There is an organization http://learn.vaclaimsinsider.com. A Veteran who became disabled founded this organization to help other veterans. It is a service where you will be charged to help you with a claim. You can also go through the Veterans Administration and get a V.S.O. (veterans service officer). This is in addition to the other claim information provided earlier. Brian Reese is the founder He wrote a book called “VA Claim Secret.” I believe it is free to download.
Here’s information from his website. Tip number 1: Read through Your military, VA and private medical records. You will be asked questions. Including current disability and your active-duty military service. When did the symptoms begin? While on active duty or after leaving your service. Will want to know current symptoms and how severe.
Describe your worst days. Don’t downplay or exaggerate your symptoms. Immediately after the exam take some notes. If you don’t feel it was fair you can request a new evaluation. Don’t wait too long. you will want to challenge errors. You want the new exam before the claim can be denied or is underrated. As I have mentioned in other blogs I spent from 1988 until last summer (2024) before my claim was accepted. I didn’t give up because I know I didn’t have the issues I now have before going in. However, I did have to get a lawyer. You can get one through the VA, look for one who will not ask for money until approved. Your lawyer can fight it. The VA does pay the lawyer a certain amount upfront. Then he/she gets a percentage of the retroactive pay. A lawyer will most likely not take the case if they feel you don’t have grounds for the connection. Never hurts to ask.
In future blogs I will post more of what he has on his website. Remember to always seek legal advice when you read about this. You want to make sure it’s accurate. Everybody’s case and issues aren’t always the same. I am not speaking for him. Just another veteran who wants to help. Don’t want you to spend as many years as I did without help.
In future blogs I will share more of those.
