When our home is full of clutter what do we do? Set time aside to go through things and decide what you can get rid of. You find ways to store those items you want to keep. Just like dealing with your home like this, you can also get stressed and feel fatigue when your mind is cluttered. What if we took some of these same principles and applying them to have a rent-free space in our mind. When you start a project in your home and don’t finish it, you increase your stress. It is the same for clearing our minds, only starting to find tools and applying them doesn’t keep your mind clutter free.
If you have a counselor or therapist, ask them to provide you with some tools to help you reduce your stress and anxiety. When you do this at home or work you can feel more focused and productive. You enhance your mood and over all well-being. You will need to develop daily habits to keep your mind so you can be in the here and now. When we worry, we can find ourselves doing it based on something that has happened or might happen.
You’re not alone. It still is a work in progress for me. Don’t beat yourself up if you feel it is that way with you. Build yourself up, don’t tear yourself down. When your home is clean and organized you feel more like hosting and entertaining friends and family. Let’s learn together day by day, week by week to apply what we learn from therapy and the tools they provide us. A clean home can reduce social anxiety. With support and guidance from your counselor reduced social anxiety can become a part of us. It can help us develop healthy habits, enhance our quality of life. Just like when you pay for a cleaning service for your home, you’re paying for that kind of service for your mental health when you seek help.
