Empathy and Effective Communication

Empathy and Effective Communication

Empathy helps foster: your in your ability to relate and understand. When someone has mental health issues because of what they went through while serving in the military, empathy and knowledge will help you and the veteran by building stronger bonds. You will be seen as a source of comfort. Motivate the person to become better. You will be able to more effectively read emotional cues. Learn to recognize the triggers that bring on conflict and disagreements. Forgiveness is something else your bond can help someone. How do you get these results:

First connect with yourself. You can do this through meditation. Meditation helps with focus and control. It can help you put yourself in their shoes. To see things from their perspective without prejudice or judgment. Develop healthy and productive habits, thus acceptance. Become aware of your body language, hand gestures, facial expressions, eye contact, and posture. All part of body language. The more familiar you are with yours the more you’ll recognize them in the person your trying to help. With seeing the benefits first hand you can help convey to others what it will do for them.

There is a connection between meditation and Yoga. Both help with calmness and fighting anxiety. Doing this with the individual can help with the bonding and with them seeing you as a source of comfort. They will be able to reduce agitation in addition to what I already shared. Give someone a sense of accomplishment. Active participation can give the person a sense of self control. Another benefit is learning to ground themselves by connecting with their body.

Sympathy and empathy are often viewed the same. However, sympathy doesn’t require a person to get involved with a person. It’s a reaction to another person’s circumstances. Empathy requires more action and understanding on your part.
